Black Salt Kala Namak
What is Black Salt Kala Namak
Kala namak is a pungent, Indian condiment, commonly used in South Asian cooking.
Despite the name black salt, Kala Namak is actually dark purple-pink in colour.
Thanks to it's sulphurous content, it has a distinctive eggy, smokey flavour.
Cooking with Black Salt Kala Namak
Kala Namak is especially popular in North India and is traditionally used in making salt blends like chaat masala and the summer drink, Jaljeera.
It also makes an amazing plant based scrambled egg. Just fry off silken tofu and add Kala Namak at the end.
It has also been said to help the symptoms of bloating, muscle cramps and water retention.
